Director’s Address

Holy moley, it’s here. All the hard work the students and parents have put into making “Wild Things” come alive (pun intended) is about to pay off.

Make sure students are keeping on top of homework and class schedules. Marching band is an important part of high school… but let’s keep in mind that the top priority of high school is to learn!

That being said, it’s an exciting week to be in the Royal Alliance. Let’s go kick some butt!

-zc

  • Tuesday 2:30-4:30p (parade band only –  no percussion sectional)
  • Wednesday 2:30p-5p rehearsal (no colorguard)

  • Call time for Equipment Crew and Leadership is 6:15AM
  • Call time for the rest of the band is 6:30AM.
  • Students are responsible for their own meals. They can choose to pack a lunch, or purchase food from the vendors at MCHS.
  • Students who choose to go home with parents must be checked out by a chaperone or Mr. Christy. These students must turn in a note before Friday.
  • Students who forget components of their uniform will not be allowed to perform, affecting their grade. Don’t forget anything!

Email Mr. C with any further questions!

Tournament Volunteer Rehearsal

Any parents volunteering to help get the band on and off the field at any tournament are asked to attend tonight’s Monday Night Rehearsal at 7:00PM.

We will be performing a complete run through, including the timing structure on and off the field. This will be an opportunity for parents to get a practice run in before the “big one”.

Director’s Address

You made it! The first week down… and that’s the difficult one. Congratulations on all the hard work you put in this week. We’re off to a great start! I’ve heard great feedback so far about the music students around campus. Thanks for representing the instrumental music program so well.

Jazz band is off to a strong start. We’re still in need of a guitar player, a trombone, and a tenor saxophone. If you know anyone interested, let me know. As a reminder, the last day to add/drop/change your schedule is Friday with teacher approval.

The students are in the midst of the first playing test of the year. To those students who haven’t yet recorded their playing test, make sure you’re practicing!

Enjoy your long weekend, see you on Tuesday ready to work hard!

-zc

All-Parent Meeting

There will be an all parent meeting NEXT MONDAY, September 8th.

We will discuss the year at a glance, as well as answer any questions about the program. All music parents are encouraged to attend.

Weekly Practice Schedule

The Royal Alliance will NOT BE REHEARSING THIS MONDAY EVENING.  Students should enjoy all of their extended weekend.

Wednesday afternoon rehearsal will continue as planned 2:30pm-5pm.

Carpooling

If there are any parents willing to carpool students and instruments to tournaments, please email Mr. Christy as soon as possible. Please include how many students you can accomodate.

Establishing a carpooling system will save the program substantial expenses in reserving buses for the season.

  • November 8th (AM) Otay Band Review
  • November 8th (PM) Chula Vista Field Tournament

Director’s Address

Congratulations on finishing two weeks of band camp, Royal Alliance! Band camp was a resounding success. For those of you unable to enjoy the concluding preview concert, you’ll be pleased to know that the marching band is well on their way to beginning an exciting marching season. The students are able to march and play the entire first movement, in addition to substantial quality work they have put into the parade march. I am excited to be involved with such an incredibly hard working group of students. That being said, there is still plenty of work to do!

It is with great excitement that I announce that despite our numbers, we will be competing up a class this year in the 2A division. This is a testament to my belief that the students will rise far above the challenge.

Keep up the hard work, Royal Alliance!
