Director’s Address

You made it! The first week down… and that’s the difficult one. Congratulations on all the hard work you put in this week. We’re off to a great start! I’ve heard great feedback so far about the music students around campus. Thanks for representing the instrumental music program so well.

Jazz band is off to a strong start. We’re still in need of a guitar player, a trombone, and a tenor saxophone. If you know anyone interested, let me know. As a reminder, the last day to add/drop/change your schedule is Friday with teacher approval.

The students are in the midst of the first playing test of the year. To those students who haven’t yet recorded their playing test, make sure you’re practicing!

Enjoy your long weekend, see you on Tuesday ready to work hard!

All-Parent Meeting

There will be an all parent meeting NEXT MONDAY, September 8th.

We will discuss the year at a glance, as well as answer any questions about the program. All music parents are encouraged to attend.

Weekly Practice Schedule

The Royal Alliance will NOT BE REHEARSING THIS MONDAY EVENING.  Students should enjoy all of their extended weekend.

Wednesday afternoon rehearsal will continue as planned 2:30pm-5pm.

Students will also have rehearsal this Saturday, September 6th from 9am – 3pm.  Please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, lunch and lots of energy to learn drill!

If there are any parents willing to carpool students and instruments to tournaments, please email Mr. Christy as soon as possible. Please include how many students you can accomodate.

Establishing a carpooling system will save the program substantial expenses in reserving buses for the season.

Tournament Schedule

As a reminder, this is the year’s competitive tournament schedule. As stated in the syllabus, missing one of these performances will lower a student’s grade by a full letter.

  • October 25th Mt. Carmel Field Tournament and Band Review
  • November 1st Mira Mesa Field Tournament and Band Review
  • November 8th (AM) Otay Band Review
  • November 8th (PM) Chula Vista Field Tournament
  • November 15th Ramona Southwest Regional Field Tournament
  • November 22nd SCSBOA Championships

Students were sent home with a flyer regarding a pizza fundraiser. Check the booklet for many tasty options!

As always, remember to submit your SCRIP orders before 11:59PM on Monday night!

Adult Polo Shirts

Parents, if you would like to purchase a Royal Alliance polo, please bring an envelope labeled with your name and the size of polo shirt you would like to purchase.

Polo shirts will be $25.00. Checks can be made out to Alliance for Music Education.
